I’m in rehearsals for King Lear – a cooperative, independent theatre production.  We have one more week, a few days off for Xmas, and then open on the 29th. Gah.

Some photos from the rehearsal hall.

The Face of Exhaustion

This is the face of utter exhaustion.

My exhausted faceI took this photo last Monday, after having worked yet another 12 hour day.  And Monday was my day off from my real job of rehearsing.  I’ve had some stolen moments of down time here and there, but I actually haven’t had a proper day off since August 21st.  I love my job, and I love being busy, but I can’t wait for this show to open so that I can have a free day.  I plan to spend at least one day in my pajamas reading an excellent book, watching episodes of Mad Men on Netflix, ogling Pinterest, and taking as many naps throughout the day as I please.

This must be how people with children feel ALL THE TIME.  I shudder to think of it.

Hello and Goodbye

Hello Gwendolen Fairfax!  Goodbye Ophelia!

We started rehearsals for The Importance of Being Earnest last Friday.  Instead of the usual first day fare of coffee and doughnuts for the “meet and greet,”  we had tea cups, Earl Grey tea, cucumber sandwiches, and short bread.  We dressed up in Garden Party attire.  Oscar Wilde would’ve approved.

Hello Oscar WildeAlso, we closed Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan this past weekend, too.  The closing crossed over the beginning of Earnest, so my weekend was a bit busy (three 13-hour days, with no lunch or dinner break, in a row!  Gah.)  My brain has been split between Wilde and Shakespeare.  I’m sad to say goodbye to Shakespeare, but I’m glad to focus completely on Wilde now.

Goodbye Shakespeare
